Fundraising for food aid for the needy of Old Klang Road

The Volunteer team for food aid of the needy of Old Klang Road have reactivated. We have been receiving a significant number of requests for food aid this week ever since the full lockdown MCO3.0 was extended to the end of June.

There are cases of families with infants having trouble putting food on their table and I’ve had a person send me video and photo of him surviving on plain instant noodles.

Only limited NGOs are activating and those that are, are getting overwhelmed with requests. The full lockdown this time round was not announced with govt food aid unlike last year. It also looks like our present govt is presently dealing with its own political survival. So it’s up to us to take care of our fellow neighbours.

We aim to provide basic uncooked food like rice, eggs, oil, etc. and also milk to those who have infants, for needy residents living in and around Old Klang road. All cases will be vetted by our team before aid is approved. We anticipate to provide food aid until a month after lockdown eases as some people only get their wages and salary at the end of the month.

So far, I count at least 20 families who are affected and have approached me. We expect more out there once the word spreads.
